AJ Douglas
Artist
AJ Douglas, also known as Al, is a British contemporary artist from Southeast London whose creative roots are deeply embedded in graffiti culture. Working under the pseudonym Jyer, he spent nearly three decades painting large-scale murals across London and internationally, leaving his mark on cities including Paris, Berlin and New York. His work evolved through the raw energy of street art, shaped by urban environments and the immediacy of public expression.
In 2020, during the first Covid lockdown, AJ made the transition from walls to canvas, exchanging spray paint for acrylics while retaining the bold visual language that defined his graffiti practice. His paintings combine layered textures, vibrant colour palettes and expressive mark-making, creating works that feel both instinctive and immersive. Drawing on years of experience in the street art scene, AJ’s contemporary pieces blur the line between fine art and urban culture, resulting in a body of work that is energetic, experimental and unapologetically modern.
