Ewen Macaulay
Contemporary Artist
Ewen Macaulay is an internationally selling artist whose work refuses to blend in. Bold, raw, and unapologetically original, his art captures emotion in motion — vibrant, textured, and alive. Driven by instinct and intention, his pieces sit between abstract expression and personal storytelling, designed to stop you, draw you in, and make you feel something real.
Born in 1973 in Folkestone, Kent, Ewen grew up inspired by his parents’ love of travel and creativity. Stories of America, Canada, and the Pacific sparked his imagination, while his father’s hands-on craftsmanship encouraged him to explore making art in many forms.
Before turning fully to fine art, Ewen built a successful career as a graphic designer, studying at The London College of Printing and the University of Greenwich, and later becoming a Studio Director at a leading design agency for over 20 years. In his late 30s, he followed his true passion and became a professional artist.
Working across screen printing, photography, painting, drawing, digital media, and resin, Ewen is best known for his large-scale landscapes, city scenes, and nature-inspired works, often incorporating wildlife and recycled materials. His loose, energetic brushwork and fearless use of colour give his art a sense of movement, light, and freedom.
Ewen’s work has been exhibited and collected across the UK, Europe, the USA, and Asia. He’s not chasing trends — he’s creating from the gut, inviting viewers to see the world a little bolder, freer, and full of colour.
